The Mission of the Esopus Creek Conservancy
Mission Statement
The mission of the Esopus Creek Conservancy, Inc.
- is to conserve significant natural landscapes
- in the lower Esopus Creek watershed
- and in the Saugerties area
- by protecting the rural character of the environment,
- by conserving and protecting natural habitats,
- by promoting biodiversity, and
- by sharing an appreciation of our natural resources with the community through public outreach, education and advocacy.
Our primary Esopus Creek Conservancy Goals
As with every organization, Esopus Creek Conservancy has aĀ missionĀ and goals that weĀ set outĀ toĀ achieve. Ā Here is a list of our primary goals that our dedicated volunteers and staff work toward.
- To serve as stewards ofĀ Esopus Bend Nature Preserve
- ToĀ preserveĀ open spaceĀ in its natural state for the enjoyment and benefit of present and future generations;
- To protect water quality, plant and animal habitats;
- To enrich the publicās understanding of the natural environment by offering educational programs in conjunction with schools and local groups;
- To cooperate with other groups, agencies and individuals in the preservation of open space;
- To seek public and private financial support to achieve our goals.
